Delay in Ofcom changes to amateur licences

Ofcom have announced a delay in Phases 2 & 3 of the changes to amateur radio licensing, which were planned for December 2024 and March 2025. Ofcom now expect them to take place in Q3 2025 (ie July to September). Probably best not hold your breath given the difficulty of making changes to IT systems.

Ofcom is making a lot of changes to other licensing systems, including business radio, drones and a range of shared access schemes. The amateur licensing changes are non-urgent, so it seems reasonable the other changes are prioritised. The upside for amateur licensees holding more than one callsign is that they get to keep them all a little longer.
