SSTV with a mag mount
Gabor, M0LPZ, recently had success receiving HF SSTV signals when /p using his FT817 and a Sirio ex-CB mag mount antenna.
The antenna has been cut down to resonate at 10m but Gabor actually tuned SSTV signals in on 20m, at 14.230MHz. He used the Robot36 SSTV Image Decoder app to pick up audio from the rig and decode the images below. Also included is a map showing the path between Gabor and the transmitting station, I1VTQ.
Well done Gabor! It just shows how easy it can be to get started with a new mode…
